Knitting and Nesting...

As the countdown to the due date continues, I am trying to make the time pass and have been knitting little baby hats non-stop. Let's hope she arrives soon because my swollen hands probably aren't appreciating all the knitting!

Complete!

The nursery is 100% complete and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. With the doors closed, the fabric matches the living room...

Then open to my sweet baby girl's nursery...

In Case You Haven't Heard...

It's no secret that Sam and I are both planners. On every report card growing up and even in my work reviews, my organizational and planning skills have always been at the top of my attributes.

So it should come as no suprise that Sam and I never hesitated to find out the gender of the baby - it didn't even once occur to us that we would let it be a surprise. (Confession: We even went three weeks before our 20 week appointment for an extra ultrasound because we were dying to know whether it was a girl or a boy!)

The day we found out the baby was officially a girl, we also named her Olivia...why wait, right? And once I started to get the nursery together, I didn't hesitate to put her name on the wall for all to see...

Showered and Showered Some More

I'm blessed to have been showered from coast to coast. Just finding room in the house for all the presents was a job in itself. Sam and I could not feel luckier to have such wonderful friends and family share in our life-changing experience of having our first baby.

Shower #1...Over New Years weekend in New York city, my best friend Caitlin hosted a brunch with my closest friends in an adorable private room and started the celebrations.

Shower #2...In early February, I got to share a shower with my pregnant friend Nicole that was hosted by our amazing high school friends.

Shower #3...At the end of the month, my sister Caitlin, sister-in-law Meghan and my mom treated an all-girls group to Tea at the Drake. My aunts and cousins came from Florida, California and Minnesota to share in the celebration. It was a fabulously girly event perfectly fitting for my sweet little bundle of joy.

Shower #4...Then to top it off in early March, Sam's amazing aunts showered both myself and Sam's sister Alyce who is also expecting. Grandma Pat's knitting friends really showed their talents with so many sweet homemade presents!

Getting Ready for Baby...

As soon as we found out that we were having a baby girl, my head starting spinning with ideas for the nursery. Would Sam be able to handle his old office now having pink walls? He would have to deal. With the advice of my favorite interior designer, I decided to go with a pink, brown and gray color scheme.

In December (against Sam's wishes), I got to painting the nursery a lovely shade of "April Pink," which was fitting considering her due date is April 3rd. Then I hand painted four different size circles in a darker shade of pink, gray and brown on the main accent wall. Five long hours and one backache later, it turned out great!

The day the crib arrived, I strong armed Sam into immediately putting it together just so I could look at it. It's very helpful to have a handy husband in times like this!

And then once Grandma Pat and Grandpa Jim gave us the bedding for the crib as a Christmas present, that too had to immediately be put together!

Next on my to-do list, picking out the perfect glider and ottoman. After many test glides, I decided on a brown fabric and then headed to the Mart with Judi to pick fabrics for throw pillows, an over-arm book holder and fabric to cover the french doors leading into the nursery. So much fun! I already have ideas for my boy nursery one day.
